Endress+Hauser TMT85 Temperature Transmitter Product Overview
1. Product Overview
The Endress+Hauser (E+H) iTEMP TMT85 is a head-mounted smart temperature transmitter installed inside the sensor connection head (e.g. BUZ type). It converts RTD or thermocouple (TC) signals into a standardized 4–20 mA output with accuracy up to ±0.1℃, and is a mainstream choice for temperature measurement in petrochemical, power, metallurgical, food and pharmaceutical industries.
2. Main Technical Features
- Input compatibility: Pt100/Pt1000 RTDs (2/3/4-wire), J/K/T/E/N/R/S/B thermocouples, plus resistance and voltage signals — one instrument for many sensor types
- Output: 4–20 mA analog with superimposed HART digital communication (rev. 5/7), configurable from DCS or a handheld communicator
- Accuracy: overall ±0.1℃ with Pt100 after sensor matching; extremely low temperature drift
- Environmental adaptability: -40 to +85℃ operating temperature, low ambient humidity sensitivity, EMC compliance to IEC 61326
- Functional safety: optional SIL2/3-certified versions for safety instrumented systems (SIS)
- Hazardous-area certification: ATEX/IECEx intrinsically safe and explosion-proof variants for hazardous zones
3. Ordering Example
TMT85-A1A1A is a common base order-code variant; actual orders depend on site confirmation of input sensor type, output protocol (HART / PROFIBUS PA / FF Foundation Fieldbus), explosion-protection rating, display-head requirement and process connection style. E+H provides free TMT configuration software; range, sensor type, alarm direction and damping time can be set via a HART modem or CDI interface.
4. Installation and Maintenance
When head-mounting, observe polarity; thermocouple inputs require the matching compensation cable. Before commissioning, verify range limits match the DCS configuration. Field troubleshooting can read diagnostics through a HART handheld: sensor break/short circuit outputs 22.8 mA (high alarm) or 3.6 mA (low alarm) according to configuration. HuaSpare Mall supplies complete TMT85 units and the full range of E+H instrumentation spares, with model benchmarking services.
